Dr. JoAnne R. Pelletier EdD, PT
Dr. JoAnne R. Pelletier, EdD, PT is originally from Woonsocket, Rhode Island. JoAnne was graduated cum laude and an honors scholar from the University of Connecticut in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. JoAnne held a staff position at Brown University affiliated Rhode Island Hospital for three years. She continued her education at Boston University and was graduated with an advanced Master of Science degree in Physical Therapy. For over two years, JoAnne was the rehabilitation coordinator at the Harvard affiliated Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston. JoAnne was later recruited by the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and maintained a faculty position for 3 years.
JoAnne completed her Doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts in September 1993. Dr. Pelletier is one of only two percent of physical therapists nationwide who possesses a doctoral degree.
Her study, "Isometric Exercises for Hemophilia Arthopathy" was published in the 1987 Physical Therapy Journal. She has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and awards for her clinical and academic accomplishments including the Outstanding Young Woman of America Award, the American Physical Therapy Association Private Practice Scholarship, the Rhode Island Hemophilia Foundation Award and multiple scholarships to the universities she attended. JoAnne has lectured on various topics to professional and lay groups.
Since her move to Cape Coral, JoAnne has contracted with nursing homes, Lee Memorial Hospital, Eastern Seals and IMPACT for developmental disabilities. She was the Research Chairperson for the Florida Physical Therapy Association. She is an active member of both the American Physical Therapy Association [APTA] and the Florida Physical Therapy Association.
Dr. Pelletier opened Pelletier Rickert Physical Therapy with her partner, Lawrence Rickert, PT in 1989. In 1992, they moved to their state-of-the-art facility in Cape Coral. Pelletier Rickert Physical Therapy expanded their practice in August of 1995 by opening an outpatient facility on Pine Island. In October of 1995, JoAnne and Larry opened a 3rd location in North Fort Myers. In June 200-, they moved their Pine Island practice to a new, larger state-of-the-art outpatient facility.
Co-Owner: Lawrence P. Rickert BS, PT
Lawrence P. Rickert, BS, PT is originally from Syracuse, New York. Larry attend Niagara University and was graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1978. He did his internship in New York City./blockquote>
Larry worked at Rome Hospital for four years before moving to Florida. He worked as Assistant Director and Director of Physical Therapy at Southwest Regional Medical Center, as well as the Director of Physical Therapy at Fawcett and Kissimmee Hospitals.
Larry has received numerous awards for his dedication to the profession of Physical Therapy. He has given numerous lectures on a variety of topics including neck and back injuries, sports injuries, arthritis, exercise and stroke treatment. He has published an article entitled, "Post operative Pain Relief Using TENS" in the Journal of Urological Nursing.
He served as President and on the Board of Directors of the Southwest District of Florida Physical Therapy Association for 7 years each. Mr. Rickert also served as Legislative Coordinator and Treasurer of the Association. He is an active member of both the American Physical Therapy Association [APTA] and the Florida Physical Therapy Association. He is a member of the Orthopedic and Private Practice Sessions of the APTA.
Larry and JoAnne's centers were voted "Best Physical Therapy Practice" in the News-Press Readers Poll.
